Shadow Oak lodging is an exclusive, traditional Southern-style wing-shooting lodge with first rate accommodations. While each bedroom comfortable sleeps two hunters with wither two queen or two full beds, we offer single occupancy rooms for a fee when space allows. Our hunting season runs from October 1 through March 31. Please reserve your hunt early as dates fill quickly. Note that our rates are ALL-INCLUSIVE. This is different from many hunting plantations. We do not charge extra for overkill, bird cleaning, skeet shooting, hardlined coolers, or alcohol. The price is the price.

Meals

What’s a day of quail hunting in Georgia that doesn’t begin with a delicious Southern breakfast? Hot coffee, buttermilk biscuits, eggs, ham and cheese grits may get you started and ready for your first Bobwhite covey flush.

Lunch might be home-made Georgia-style Brunswick stew and bar-b-cued ribs or fried quail and turnip greens. And no South Georgia meal is complete without sweet tea! In the evening, our guests return from a day in the field to a special Shadow Oak appetizer and some time to relax before our legendary dinners. Our cooks are second to none! Fried chicken and quail, smothered pork chops, grilled steak, squash and onions, loaded mashed potatoes, fried okra, field peas, homemade macaroni and cheese, collard greens and cornbread… the list goes on and on. Shadow Oak guests never leave hungry because it is impossible to say no to our banana pudding or peach cobbler!

Meals at Shadow Oak, especially dinner, are times to relax and enjoy true Southern hospitality. Our cooks treat our hunters like family, so be sure to let us know if you are celebrating a special occasion. We wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to make a special treat!

After dinner and a long day out in the field, relax on the front or back porch, watch television or get lost in a book. There are lots of hunting and sporting life books and magazines scattered about the Lodge.

If you want to stretch out after dinner, we invite you to take a stroll on the gorgeous grounds surrounding the Lodge; you may encounter a black buck antelope or a Plains Zebra. They are all part of Shadow Oak’s collection of non-native animals, for viewing only. If there are any non-hunters in your group, they can have a wonderful time on a mini photo safari which can be easily arranged.

All of us here at Shadow Oak Plantation are dedicated to insuring your stay with us, from your quail hunt to your meals and accommodations, are nothing less than first class. We strive to make sure your experience is so exceptional and memorable it will have you, your family, and friends yearning to come back year after year.
